Albion-Riverside Park

Summary

The Albion-Riverside Park Project is in the City of Los Angeles and drains into the Los Angeles River below Sepulveda Basin. The site was previously used for dairy warehousing and distribution but has been transformed into a park that treats stormwater runoff before it reaches our waterbodies and infiltrates the underground gallery through grassy swales, bioretention facilities, and pervious pavement installed in the parking lot. This improvement project footprint is 6 acres with a drainage area of 300 acres and a capacity to treat 95 acre-feet of stormwater per year, on average, enough to meet the yearly water demand of approximately 998 people. The park was completed in March 2019 and is benefiting the nearby disadvantaged communities with recreational areas, environmental education opportunities, and improved access to the river.
